BENEFITS
Benefits of Presto Tape's Floor Protection Film
PREVENTS SURFACE REPAIRS
Prevents scratches or scuffs that would otherwise require replacement.
Improves Builder-Client Turnover
Ensures pristine floor delivery, enhancing builder reputation and final inspections.
Minimizes Warranty Interventions
Helps builders prevent minor site damage from becoming costly claims down the line.
PROCESS USE
Floor Protection Film can be used during construction, renovation, painting, remodeling, maintenance, moving, and event setup to protect finished floors from damage, chips, dents, stains, and scratches caused by abrasion, impact, dirt, and foot or equipment traffic. Temporary floor protection film can also prevent direct contact with ladders, carts, lifts, scaffolding, furniture, and jobsite debris, helping reduce scuffing, surface wear, and finish transfer while work is in progress.
The film can be used for specific uses, including:
Construction and Renovation
Protects floors during new construction, remodeling, painting, and interior fit-outs to prevent scratches, stains, and damage.
Post-Installation Protection
Once flooring is installed, the job site often remains active. The film shields against overspray, splatter, drywall dust, and mud.
Moving
Protects residential and commercial floors from scratches, dirt, and moisture during moves and furniture transport.
HOW TO APPLY & REMOVE PROTECTIVE FILM
Applying the Film
- Clean the Floor: Sweep or vacuum to remove all dust, dirt, and debris.
- Ensure the Floor is Dry: Confirm the surface is fully dry to prevent trapped moisture and adhesion problems.
- Position the Film Roll: Place the reverse-wound roll at the starting edge of the room or area, with the adhesive side facing downward.
- Choose Application Method:
• By Hand or Kick-out: Unroll the film slowly across the floor while pressing it down firmly. The film is reverse wound for easy kick-out application.
• With an Applicator (Recommended): Load the roll into the applicator and push it forward to apply even pressure for the best adhesion. - Smooth the Film During Application: As you unroll, press the film down with the applicator, a soft roller, or your hand to keep it flat and wrinkle-free.
- Work Out Air Bubbles: Smooth from the center outward to release trapped air and ensure full contact with the floor.
- Trim at the End of the Run: Once the roll reaches the far edge of the area, cut the film with a utility knife or scissors, trimming neatly along walls, corners, or fixtures.
Removing the Film
- Inspect the Edges: Locate a corner or edge of the film where you can easily lift the floor protection film.
- Lift the Film Edge: Carefully peel back an edge of the film, then roll each strip into itself to contain any dirt or debris.
- Dispose: Discard all used film bundles.
